Flat Braids
Ratera braiding machines are producing any type of flat braid. The wide range of machinery allows for the manufacture of tiny flat braids less than 1mm in width to braids of several centimeters in width and significant thickness.
The flat braided structure provides high strength, flexibility, and memory compared to other types of textile constructions for making tapes.

The flat braiding machine is characterized by having an odd number of carrier and combining 4-cut plates with 5-cut plates. Some of the main features are:
- Number of carriers: The carrier is the moving element where the bobbin is loaded with the thread to be braided. Ratera offers braiding machines from 9 to 121 carriers. The more carriers the machine has, the wider the braid will be for the same thickness. The thickness largely depends on the denier of the thread.
- Gauge: diameter in millimeters of the horn gear. This will determine the capacity of the carriers bobbins that make up the braiding machine. In flat braids, the E80 Gauge is the most popular.
- Braid core. The flat braid can have a core or not. Ratera offers the possibility to equip the machine with accessories for braiding with or without a core, whether these are rigid or elastic.
