Take-Up Units and Collectors for Ropes, Hoses and Cables

Ratera specializes in manufacturing take-up units (also called collectors) that work synchronized with the braiding machine or other equipment. The take-up units are used to collect the braided product on a spool or reel.

In smaller braiders, the take-up unit is directly incorporated and welded onto the braider according to the customer’s needs. For larger braiders where there is a high capacity requirement, autonomous collectors are the most suitable option.

Customization and adaptability

Autonomous collectors

Take-up units for parallel winding to metallic reels. They can work autonomously thanks to a motorized system and clutch mechanism. Space optimization and perfect parallel folding can be achieved thanks to its rolling-ring device with enables winding pitch selection.

Several reel sizes are available:

  • Ø 800 x 400 (150,796 cm³)
  • Ø 1050 x 600 (444,142 cm³)
  • Adapted to customer’s bobbin. (Wood, metallic, plastic, … )

As optional, these take-up units can be equipped with a tensioner arm for folding the product at constant tension. This is important for best quality of falding and feeding the next process in a more stable manner. Some applications are ropes, pressure hose and other types of conduits, braided sleeves and many others.

Parallel winding collectors with no central nucleus. The retractable core of these take-ups allows tying the rope hank and removing the rope from the collector, ready for sale. Various sizes are available:

  • Ø 600 x 390 (104,266 cm³)
  • Ø 1200 x 700 (706,335 cm³)
  • Ø 1700 x 765 (1,649,637 cm³)

All these collectors can be used with other types of machinery, such as twisters, caterpillars, cutters, or other types of textile or tubing machinery.

Additionally, Ratera can support the integration artificial vision systems for quality control, thermal process or other types systems with our take-up units or braiding equipment

Additional solutions for braiders

Compact solutions located above or at the back of the braider for safe load handling.

Bobbins available:

  • For fine threads: DIN-100, DIN-125, DIN-160 or the Ratera bobbin with Ø 350 x 125 mm.
  • For larger sizes, metal bobbins  Ø 350 × 300mm or or Ø 450×300 mm wooden bobbins with reinforced core.
  • CUSTOMIZED. We adapt the customer’s spools to our collector models.
  • Wooden winders for skein winding.
  • Options with endless screw or rolling-ring device, depending on required winding quality.
  • Take-up’s for cross-winding, optionally with tensioning columns for constant tension folding.
